Through the scattered showers of the changing seasons, we humbly relay to you the coming of our single release, Hey Lil' Bird. This recording was remotely conceived out in the Atlantic Ocean, 300 miles east of the Bahama chain, and executed in studio with family in sound, Kyle Jones at Sleeping Brotherhood Studios in Colorado. Musicians Scott Messersmith on the Cajon drum and bassist, Keith Moseley (of String Cheese Incident) came in and laid down some more tracks to complete this process. We humbly thank you, brothers. This song was written amidst the wide ocean of a group of shearwater birds that kept us company while weeks alone at sea. It represents the humbling joy and playfulness one can find when left alone with just nature in the world. Thank you for listening always.
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Why you following me?
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Tell me baby, whaddya see?
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Out there on the deep blue sea
You can bet that you’re never gonna get
My little fishy on a string
Hey lil man, hey lil man
Whatcha doin out here?
Hey lil man, hey lil man
Do ya mind if I stop and stare
Hey lil man, hey lil man
What the heck you got right there?
You can bet I’m gonna come on back
And take that little fishy outta your care
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Tell me baby, where you ‘gon
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Well I really gots to know
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Looks like you just a rollin’ stone
If you keep lookin’ I’m gonna pull it in and
That little fishy gonna be gone!
Hey lil man, hey lil man
Why don’t you tell me where do you come from?
Hey lil man, hey lil man
Well I really gots to know
Hey lil man, hey lil man
Don’t you know you out here all alone?
Don’t you know that me and my friends are gonna
Take that little fishy on home!
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
C’mon, why don’t you got on home?
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
Why don’t you leave that damn fishy alone
Hey Lil Bird, Hey Lil Bird
There’s somethin’ that you gotta know
It ain’t no magic, it’s just a piece of plastic
And if you swallow it it’s gonna get stuck right in your throat
